2018 GWTA Community Coordinator Job Responsibilities

The primary role of the Community Coordinator is to promote and grow tennis in Wilmington and the surrounding counties and to seek out ways to increase exposure to tennis in the community. The Community Coordinator will work in conjunction with all GWTA representatives, community leaders, USTA NC staff, Parks and Recreation representatives, and other organizations that share similar tennis interests. The Community Coordinator will work to ensure that customer service provided by GWTA to its players and community supporters if prompt, reliable, and accurate and remains a high priority.

The Community Coordinator will serve as a model of leadership for the USTA Community Tennis Association and is responsible for upholding the USTA philosophy, rules and procedures and ensuring accurate and consistent branding for all USTA programs.

Areas of Responsibility:

Tennis Programming
o Be a representative of information and promotion for all USTA events in the area.
o Assist and coordinate with USTA NC for Workshops, Play Days, tennis events and community outreach opportunities.
o Assist LLC and JTT coordinator with the promotion and planning for league seasons, marketing promotions, and league communications.
o Meet and communicate tennis programming opportunities for local tennis pros, recreational facilities, and clubs, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, YWCA, One Love Tennis, schools, ATA, etc.
o Represent GWTA at public events and promote GWTA with pros coaches, and other tennis or sports related organizations.
o Schedule and facilitate “Try Tennis” events throughout the community, leveraging pros for new player instruction.
o Remain accessible to local residents requesting information on local tennis programming.
o Build and maintain an active base of volunteers and leverage this base to support various tournaments, events, and outreach programs.
o Identify, write and submit grant proposals and other fundraising programs to support GWTA programming.

Marketing
o Coordinate and develop marketing programs and promotional materials.
o Update social media accounts on a regular basis (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
o Develop and informational brochures to promote GWTA and tennis programming to the community.
o Develop and manage local media promotion.
o Develop promotional programs.
o Captain Appreciation Programs
o Pro Appreciation and Incentive Programs
o GWTA Promotions – promote GWTA in the tennis community and community at large to increase awareness of our role and activities.
o Social Media promotions

GWTA Board of Directors
o Support the Board of Directors in its role as governing body of the organization.
o Attend and actively participate in all scheduled GWTA meetings and provide reports on activities.
o Maintain regular communication of activities and projects to GWTA Board members via monthly update calls, email communications and Community Coordinator activity reports.
o Assist with the development of the annual operating budget and maintain budget set by GWTA Board of Directors and work within budgetary limits.

USTA Training and Interactions
o Attend annual USTA North Carolina Community Development Workshop.
o Attend USTA CTA meetings and workshops.
o Provide timely correspondence with both State and Southern offices of USTA.

USTA Adult Tournament
o Assist GWTA Combo Championship Coordinator for tournament plans and organization.
o Work closely with USTA NC staff/State League Coordinator for tournament plans and organization.
o Assist with sponsorship efforts and coordinator with sponsorship chairperson.
o Assist with volunteer recruitment efforts via social media, direct email campaign, and previous volunteer direct contact.
o Be onsite and accessible throughout the entire tournament for staff, players, sponsors, and volunteers.

General Qualifications
o Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.
o Self-motivator with the ability to work independently.
o Ability to diplomatically resolve issues as they arise.
o Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Robly.
o Prior USTA League experience helpful.
o Tennis background essential.
